Will have to be done using a rolling road from April next year. Decelerometer (Bowmonk) testing and 'road tests' will likely no longer be accepted as compliant from next Spring after the release of the new DVSA Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness' will be released.
A lot of 'confusion' still exists on this issue, giving rise to some hearty debate when visiting operators and service agents. However, it has always been the case that brake efficiencies MUST be assessed on all preventative maintenance inspections, and from April next year this will have to be a roller test.
It remains to be seen what else the new guidance will bring in, but I would have a bet that the good old 'insufficient weight on axle ??' may be a target, although it is suspected that DVSA will drop short of mandating laden roller tests with every inspection, but I make no promises here! Should the landscape change further prior to next April, I will update this blog after speaking to the people in legal land.
It will pay to get your house in order now with your maintenance provider and review your service level agreement.😉
